my friday night

Michael took Reese on the father and son campout Friday night. Reese was so excited! It was at the church camp site about 2 hours away. They rode in a canoe and set up our little tent. They had fun! Reese had some emotional issues that he couldn't control (ie: crying) about 2am...so, that was a rough patch for Michael. But they made it home VERY early Saturday morning:)

this is Reese in front of the tent....and then Reese dealing w/his issues at 2am.

So, me and the girls had a GIRL party!! I took Audrey and Sadie to the store and we picked some treats to pig out on. We painted our finger and toe nails and we watched Swiss Family Robinson. (Audrey's pick)
It was really fun! Audrey was pretty sad that dad was going camping with just Reese, but when I said that she could pick out her own treat, she got over it.

my search of OK Go - Here It Goes Again

i like this band. 70%music, 25%dancing 5%pure hilarity that these weird men have choreographed such a great routine!

my trip to the O.C.

(AAHHHH, back to blogging!)
Oh, wow...this was such a fun trip! We did so many things and the kids had such a great time.
The Huff's were amazing! My favorite part of the trip (besides the beach) was not having to cook or clean and having lots of help for the kids. The traveling wasn't too bad considering that we left at 2a.m. Reese had some issues a few times at the airport and on the plane that got us a few looks. But he was trying hard not to scream (I think). Coming back, he thought that the plane was going to fall out of the sky.
We went and saw a church production of Beauty and the Beast, we went to Disneyland, we went to the beach, we swam, we shopped...it was so fun and relaxing! Basically I took about 300+ pictures and I am a little overwhelmed with weeding through them right now. So here are a VERY few that I uploaded.

The beach was my favorite part of the trip! The kids just LOVED IT! They could run free and clear. They found shells and dug in the sand. Audrey got in the water and splashed around but Reese was content digging.

The Huff's were such greats hosts and made the trip just GREAT! I am lucky to have such thoughtful in-laws!

Disneyland of course was amazing! We got there at opening and stayed until the parade. By the end of the day, the kids were basically being dragged to rides and they weren't enjoying it as much. They loved the parade! WE DID EVERYTHING THERE (that the kids could go on).

The kids really loved the toon-town and walking thru the little Mickey and Minnie houses. Audrey loved the Goofy roller coaster.

My favorite part was seeing the princesses. They were so beautiful and all talked with a really high pitched voice. They were so cute and graceful. (i totally look preg-ers in the Arial photo. YIKES!!!!)

Audrey and Reese really loved the dumbo ride and the teacup ride. They liked anything that was fast. Audrey said her favorite ride was the its a small world. There was just so much to do and look at, that they both got overwhelmed at times. The lines weren't bad at all.
We did other things too that were great, but this is the seriously abridged version of our trip. It was wonderful. I wasn't quite ready to come back, (neither were the kids) but when we got back here, the weather was beautiful. So that helped out a lot.
I am sure that I am going to post many more favorite photos of the trip, but I just wanted to start. I have missed reading every one's blogs and I am ready to get back into the swing of things!

my favorite "love" songs

I was driving home the other day and heard "mony-mony" (the Billy Idol version) on the radio. I was flooded with memories of my youth. There have been a couple of songs that really had an affect on me in my adolescence...this is one. Have you ever been so in love with a song? I admit, I tend to have obsessive tendencies, I will listen to songs over and over and over and over again. I wasn't that into Billy Idol (okay, so, that is a lie) but I loved how the song was sung. I believe I did a lip-sync dance to it w/another girlfriend at a "talent" show. The other song was "Power of Love" by Hewey Lewis and the News! I have a slightly ridiculous memory of my father calming me down after I heard "Power of Love" b/c I was overcome with feelings for Michael J.Fox. I had such a huge crush on him at the time.
Back to the Future had come out and that was one of my favorite movies. Now that I think about it, the list of songs that I freakish loved in my wonder years could go on. But these songs were definitely the top 2 songs (Power of Love being #1) that evoked overwhelming emotion in an awkward pre-teen.

my glasses

I went and bought these cute glasses for myself (yes, they are prescription)...ohhh, I don't know....almost a year ago. Ummmm probably 1 month after I had purchased them, Reese completely snapped the "arm" of the frames right off. Oohhhh, so, I went slightly ballistic (not my most shining moment as a mother). So, thus, they lay, torn and tossed aside, collecting dust for months and months and months.
I am too cheap to go buy a new pair, I mean, I probably had worn them like 20 times. I was so sad b/c I just loved these frames. So last week, I did a patch job on them. My tools were a toothpick, liquid nails, and hot glue. So, what do you think? Is it totally awful looking? I will probably never wear them out to social events or public or what have you, I think I would be way to self conscience. I do not want to turn into the mom who wears her slippers to the grocery store in the morning. I did wear them to pick Audrey up from pre-school the other day. As I talked to another mom there, I kept thinking that she was totally just staring at my hot glue gun bubble.
I know that I will just need to make myself another appointment with the optometrist and let go of my cute unused, totally wasted 200 bucks...other-wise-known-as my glasses.
