my fair

The Benton Franklin County Fair and Rodeo...baby!! This is always a fun time. We went with our good friends the Gales again and perused the stands and booths. I was 9 months pregnant and hoped that a day walking in the sun and standing on my feet would jump start my labor, but no such luck. The highlight for the kids was getting cotton candy and going on a ride. 1 ride is never enough, they want more, MORE more! The highlight for me was the "Beach Boys" concert at night. That was wonderful. They played all the songs I grew up on and it was the first time since my dad's death that I felt a semblance of happy. Michael worked at the book mobile and we got to hang out with him and eat elephant ears:) The walk to the car was awful, in the dust and gravel and we were all exhausted by the end of the day, but it was worth it.

my new school year

Audrey's first day of 1st grade. I couldn't get her to smile big...I think she was a little nervous. Her teacher is Mrs. Watts and she is very nice. Audrey is one of the smartest in the class and is doing great. Reese also started a new year of preschool. He really likes it of course.
Here is Audrey waiting in line outside of her class. And her she is at her new desk...she REALLy wanted to have a desk instead of a table.

my river rats

We discovered a nice swimming hole on the Snake River. Although it looks like a nice spot, I refuse to get in, for fear of dead bodies at the bottom of the river. The kids really enjoyed swimming in the river tho. Our transformation to hillbillies is almost complete:)

Rocks and seaweed, oh my:)

my pretty lake

Before the wonderful Ahrens left to head back home, we decided to take a day trip to a pretty lake area. Mom brought a bunch of fishing poles and tried to help the kids fish...it was more untangeling and trying to figure them out tho. It was a beautiful area called RimRock lake, just west of Yakima. It was nice to get out of K-town. We ate at MINER'S on the way home, so good and one of Dad's favorite places to stop and eat.
