my old face

So, as my perpetual 25th (hhmmm-clear throat) birthday aproaches I am deciding that I am not growing old gracefully. I never thought that I would care, its just a number. Right? But the last couple of weeks, I have noticed that it is taking me longer to get ready, I need to do more to my face and hair...and that youthful glow is gone. I feel like my face has gotten dark and lifeless. Now, maybe it is b/c we are just coming out of winter and I havent spent time outside and basked in the sunshine. There are a few things that really bother me about my face as of late....

1. My skin has become darker and discolored in some areas...especially at the corner of each eye.

2. I have always been severly insecure about my problematic skin. I am still plagued with acne. HELLO! I hate it! I have huge pores, bad scars, and on top of that, my face is growing more AND MORE freakish moles and sun spots. You might think some of them are zits, but no, they are red moles or just moles.
I think it is time to go to the dermatologist.

my obsessions (as of today)

1. Square foot gardening....we are so excited to get it going. We are going to plant a few things this Saturday. I have never had such a "big" garden. It is 4'x18'. I hope we don't kill everything. Hopefully it will be a prosperous endeavour for us!

2. Mary Higgins Clark is my comfort and stress relief right now. I love reading her books. They are entertaining to me and I can whip through them. It has become a ritual for me, every night as I lay in bed, I read about murderers, sociopaths, and serial killers. Sweet dreams.

3. American Idol. This is something that I am slightly embarrassed to admit. It is definitely a love/hate relationship. I don't know why I like to watch it. I think it is cheesy, the same songs, the same comments, the same annoying people, but I can't seem to help myself. I have grown to despise the word "pitch-y".

4. Amy Winehouse. I know that she is a major freak and drug addict...but I love some of her songs! I like her voice and think that she is an interesting musician. Some of her looks definitely frighten me tho.

5. Chocolate covered raisins. Oh my gosh, someone please call the police. I feel like I eat these all day long. Sometimes I don't feel guilty b/c they are raisins. Healthy for you, right? Probably not healthy if you consume 2 pounds of chocolate covered ones in a 24 hour period.

my cinderella

She is always posing! ...I think she gets it from Michael (j/k)!

Audrey and Reese were invited to a friend party. It was really cute, it was a princess party. Reese went as Superman (of course) & Audrey was thrilled to be able to wear her cinderella dress out in public. I also put a little makeup on her, since it was "dress-up". Is that bad? She is 5 going on 15. I am in fear of the teenage years.

my easter egg hunt

I think this picture of Audrey trying to steal candy from a baby is quite funny. She did not get away with it. And Reese, concentrating so hard, trying to get that darn egg open.

Easter was so fun! We had a very nostalgic hunt at Grandma's house. Audrey meant business, she was running hard. Her only competition was a baby and her brother. Her basket was overflowing w/eggs. Reese and Sadie were mostly interested in eating the candy as they collected it.

my bald baby

Here is sweet Sadie, doing something she loves....combing her 3 hairs. She loves to put on headbands, but won't keep them in and she loves to comb her HAIR(s).

Sometimes I try to adorn her 3 hairs with a polly pocket barrett. That is the only type of decoration that is small enough to clasp into her hair(s).

In this bottom right picture, you can just make out her "ponytail".

When will her hair come in??

my strong superman

Recently, Michael watched SUPERMAN with the kids and Reese just loved it....He has been wearing a very snug SUPERMAN costume almost everyday and asks me to put a curl in his hair. He races around and around the kitchen and pretends he is flying. I know that most boys go through a superman/superhero phase...I just think it is hilarious, he is constantly talking about how strong he is and how he will save us. I absolutely embrace this mentality and this character adoration. Reese has gone far too long playing with all of his sister's polly pockets and my little ponies.
His favorite lines from superman (which he remembered) are "you've got me?...who's got you?"

and "hey jim, that's a bad outfit..."

He also really enjoyed Lex Luther whipping off his wig and claiming to be the greatest criminal mind of our time...

my mom jeans

I was recently on a trip to Wal-mart for some food with my kiddies and I happened upon a most offensive sight....there was a mom with a v-neck shirt with bosom overflowing out of every cut of fabric. I also noticed as she reached down to grab something that her hot pink g-string was prominently displayed for all to see...including her 2 kids. She did not have the most shapely body, if I had to guess, she probably shopped in the plus size section. Neither skinny women or pleasantly plump women should be showing this much skin at 9:30 a.m. in the local walmart. I could not look away tho. It was horrifying to see so much cleavage. I was worried for her that if one thread popped everything would fall out of place. Do you remember the Incredible Hulk? When he got angry and grew big and green, his shirt would tear apart...this image was swimming thru my head as I watched this mom shop for groceries with her kids. The tightness of her v-neck also left nothing to the imagination. I could see every bump and ripple and there was an overflow of skin spilling over the top of her jeans....I believe this is called "muffin top".
Did she think she looked sexy? Why aren't women past this idea of squeezing into their clothe's or showing off their womanly parts? I absolutely do not understand this mentality...was she trying to impress the men there? Or perhaps it was just that she was out of clothes that fit her? I would be doubly shocked to find out if she consciously picked out her outfit.

MOM JEANS!

This was a HILARIOUS sketch. But can't we find a happy medium?

Flashers of obscene amounts of cleavage, skin, and underwear beware. I am sick of you.

my favorite things today

Spring is in the air......ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I have eaten a bagel sandwich everyday for lunch for almost 2 weeks. I LOVE THEM!

Does anyone wear heels?? I have started to wear high heels this last year and I love the way they look. It is a little tricky for me, especially when I have to carry a child. But, I am in constant fear that at any moment, I will be stumble and not be able to regain my balance, and then fall flat on my face. I do love my peep-toe heels tho. I have red and black.

I have gotten a lot of sewing done and it has actually been fun for me.

my 2 thieves

I made cinnamon rolls the other week with cream cheese frosting. I put it aside for an after dinner treat.

I had Audrey and Reese go down for a "nap"...or so I thought. All was quiet for a good 45 minutes. They were in their room, reading quietly....or so i thought.

I noticed that my bowl of frosting was missing. So I went into the kids' room and I found this under Reese's bed...

They had snuck out of their room, snagged the bowl of frosting, and licked every bit of cream cheese frosting out of the bowl.

Pretty gross, right....well, they thoroughly enjoyed it.
